Jacobs Semesters in Mathematics

Courses

Program participants take courses from the regular Jacobs course catalog. In principle, all courses are open to visiting students subject to the course being offered in the semester of visit, fulfillment of course specific prerequisites and, for certain courses, capacity constraints.

Mathematics courses

A complete list of mathematics courses can be found here: Not every course will be offered in every semester - if a particular course is important to you, please ask the program contact for advance information. Graduate courses are generally open to undergraduates who are sufficiently advanced to meaningfully participate.

University course catalog

You can find course information for the current and past semesters in the university's Campus Net system. When reading the course catalog, the following information is helpful:
  • Jacobs' own Bachelor degree programs are based on three year curricula. Correspondingly, course numbers in the 100, 200, 300, and 400 range correspond to the first year, second year, third year, and graduate level in the Jacobs system.
  • Course numbers ending in 1 typically indicate Fall Semester courses, course numbers ending in 2 typically indicate Spring Semester courses. There are exceptions to this system, but it is useful as a first guide for potential course availability.
  • Some advanced and specialized courses are offered biennially only. Be sure to ask the program contact in case such a course is important for you.
  • In addition, the course German Politics and Culture is offered every semester to visiting program students.
